Besides surgery under local anaesthesia, the department also caters to the patients needing General Anaesthetic for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Two
operation theatres of the attached medical college hospital have been made available to specifically cater these patients. They are admitted to the
attached medical college hospital, on beds earmarked for our department. Post surgical care is provided by the post graduate students, under guidance
of the staff, in pursuance of their training.
We cater to patients needing general anesthesia for Pre Cancer and cancer, Tumors, Trauma, Severe Space infections, Pediatric Injuries, Corrective jaw
surgery, Temporomandibular Joint Surgery and Distraction Osteogenesis. Besides the scalpel and diathermy, we use the laser and cryoprobe for surgery.
As far as the academic aspect of the sphere of our activities is concerned, we are active researchers with approximately 40 publications to our credit. The curriculum prescribed by the Dental Council of India is adhered to, and care is taken that our students become proficient in all aspects of the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery before they complete their course. Prof. Iqbal Ali has presented papers and chaired sessions in various conferences.
Dr. Harsha Pradhan, a reciepient of the Smt. Shakuntala Mahajan Memorial Best Students PaperAward at a U.P. State I.D.A. Conference and the Runners Up Award for the Best Students Paper at the National Level AOMSI Conference held at Lucknow, has presented papers and posters in national level conferences.
Dr. Harmurti Singh, a recipient of the first prize for paper quality at the triple ‘O’ symposium and the second prize for paper quality at the 8th IAFO ( Indian Association of Forensic Odontology ) Conference, has completed to ATLS Course and delivered a paper on the role of stem cells in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the UPAOMSI Conference.
