Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology
was established in the year 2001 and the Post-Graduate coursein this specialty was started in the year 2008. This Department deals with the first three years of undergraduate studies by imparting the knowledge in the basics like Anatomy, physiology ,histology and the pathology of tooth, Oral and Para-Oral structures.
Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology basically deals with the screening and in the diagnosis of oral lesions ranging from developmental to acquired, Cancerous to Non-Cancerous, Viral, Fungal, Bacterial to Auto immune and many more.
This Department has a state of art museum which proudly displays specimens, models, casts and posters and excellent infrastructure to carry out histopathological and histochemical process - routine as well as specialized like IHC. It is well equipped with sufficient number of compound microscopes, stereo microscope and specialized research microscope with various attachments such as Penta head, dark field and polarizing microscope, along with image analyzer software to cater the need of our upcoming budding oral pathologists.
Post Graduates in this department are extensively trained for research work and diagnosis of oral and para oral lesions. They take up research projects for their dissertation not only keeping academics in mind but also social responsibilities.
The staff and the students here actively participate in various activities like conferences, symposiums, CDE programs Camps conducted and organized by the State and National Organizations.
